PLANE CRASH LANDS ON LANCING BEACH

There was an unusual visitor to Lancing Beach on the May Day Bank Holiday 7 May 2001, when a PA28 Cherokee plane was forced to land on the shingle after running into problems.

No-one was injured in the incident, which occured around 3pm on the sunny Bank Holiday afternoon. The plane was apparently returning from Eastbourne with the pilot and two passengers on board. The plane only suffered minor damage to a wing, an a bent propellor.

The plane is pictured below shortly after having been pulled up the beach the following day, prior to being taken away. Click on the thumbnails below to see the full-size images.
