WORDS AND NOW MUSIC!

7.30pm
TUE 26 APRIL 2005

at Boundstone Community College Hall
Boundstone Lane, Sompting

Mention Man Group plc and most people think of the Man Booker Prize for literature.

The pianoMan project is the latest project funded by Man Group plc, the global provider of alternative investment products and agency brokerage. In association with Richard Meyrick, an internationally acclaimed concert pianist, Man Group is sponsoring a uniquely and ambitious scheme. Over the next two years Richard will travel thousands of miles to visit over seventy, carefully selected, schools and colleges throughout the UK.

A natural raconteur, a born teacher and an intensely physical performer with virtuosic pianistic skills, Richard has a wonderful gift the ability to convey his love of great music to others. Over an afternoon and evening he will introduce young people to live classical music through informal workshops and master-classes for selected music students. His visit will culminate in a fund-raising concert for pupils, parents and friends, with proceeds going to the school s own music department. This is your opportunity to hear some of the world s great musical heritage performed by one of Britain s most exciting pianists.

The inaugural concert in London was filmed and recorded on DVD and features Richard in conversation with John Suchet, the celebrated television journalist. He uncovers details of Richard's early career, his successful fight against throat cancer, his unique teaching methods, his triumphant return to the concert platform and his dedication to the pianoMan project. Copies of the DVD will be made available to all the participating schools.
