* MORE MONEY ON OFFER FOR VOLUNTARY GROUPS *

Voluntary and community organisations working to provide social care and support to local people living in Adur, are again being invited to apply for grant support from the Adur Health and Social Care Local Planning Group (LPG).

The statutory organisations represented on the LPG providing the funding are Adur District Council, Adur, Arun & Worthing Teaching Primary Care Trust, West Sussex County Council Social & Caring Services, and Worthing & Southlands Hospital Trust.

This joint agencies funding venture has in 2005/2006, seen over £61,000 spent on local voluntary sector services and support towards meeting the health and social care priorities of the LPG.

The organisations financially supported in the current year for their work in Adur were Adur Council for Voluntary Service, Adur Learning Exchange, the Citizens Advice Bureaux, the Friday Club, the Graduate Club, the Workers Educational Association, the WRVS and West Sussex Association for Disabled People. Some of this funding has now been committed for a further one or two years.

New applications for 2006/2007 funding are now being invited from voluntary and community groups for a share of £10,000, to assist LPG priorities.

"There are many local voluntary and community groups doing a fantastic job in Adur " said Local Planning Group Chair Catherine Scott. "We are happy to be able to support their valuable work through this grants process."

Organisations can apply for grant support, if their work in Adur assists any of these LPG health and social care priority areas: Supporting older people, reducing health inequalities, supporting young people and families, promoting community involvement, supporting carers.

The deadline for funding applications is 30th November 2005. For further information or to request a grant application pack, contact David Richardson on 01273 268800 or Email david.richardson@westsussex.gov.uk
