LAST FUEL IN SUSSEX?

The September 2000 Fuel Crisis saw fuel supplies deplete rapidly across the country as drivers rushed to fill up their tanks. By 13 September, almost all petrol stations had run out, but a handful still had small stocks of LRP and/or diesel. Manor Road Service Station in Lancing appeared to be one of a very small number in Sussex that had anything left, but by that time it was only diesel, and that ran out shortly after the photographs below were taken that afternoon.

An unusual sight as vehicles queue in Upper Boundstone Lane to get hold of the last of the diesel in the area.
